A Pivot for the Blog
Shifting seasons and shifting intentions.
It’s normal to have a three-month break between blog posts, right? Or is that more of a “me problem“?
If you’ve noticed, I haven’t been as consistent with writing as I was earlier in the year. There are a number of reasons for this.
Mark and I got married mid-March in Northern Ireland and we were out of the country for nearly three weeks, so the weeks leading up to it were focused solely on the wedding and travel. When we got back, it was full-steam ahead into seed starting and farm planning as it was April and I was already feeling slightly behind. Content was the thing that got pushed to the back burner over and over again.
But the main reason there’s been a gap in writing is because, in truth, I wasn’t exactly sure what I wanted this space to be.
You see, I love to write. I love to express ideas and to spark inspiration in others. I love to have a creative outlet that feels like it’s equal parts cathartic for myself and inspiring for others. I realize that there are a range of topics and curiosities I chase and truths I seek… but I recognize that not everyone is interested in charting those deep waters.
If you’ve been here a little while, you’ve noticed that I’m an advocate for living along with the cycles and seasons of nature. While there are a number of reasons why and how people do this, the main reason for me is that paying attention to nature encourages us to seek deeper levels of self-awareness and self-acceptance and in turn, create more awareness and acceptance for others.
When we recognize we are not different from the trees or the flowers or the rivers… we start to look at ourselves in ways that maybe we haven’t before. We start to look at ourselves with a bit more grace, a bit more patience, more understanding and more love.
Now, for me, the umbrella phrase of “cycles and seasons” really consists of a number of different factors, some of which are a bit more tangible and some that are a bit more “expansive”. The main areas are that of the seasons of nature, the cycles of the moon, the seasons of the zodiac, the ancient sabbats and the piece that connects them all— the four basic elements.
So with that, I’ve decided that this blog space will aim to educate and inspire people who are looking for those foundational ways to connect with nature and to pay attention to the seasons in a way that they haven’t done so before. An introduction, if you will, to some of the key ways in which we can commune with nature throughout the year and by doing so, understand deeper layers of ourselves and our well-being. In addition, a place for reflection and insights from the farm throughout the seasons.
However, I recognize that there are also others that desire to dive deeper. Perhaps those who are spiritually curious about the ways nature and magic collide throughout the year and who are ready to take their initial understanding to a different place. Those who wish to understand more of the metaphysical connections between the natural world and the cosmos and our own healing and well-being. Those who are on a journey to self-acceptance and know that the natural world offers us tools and resources and lessons to guide us in that process. For those seekers, you can find more of my writing and thoughts over on my Substack at Her Wild Wonder.
In either case, no matter where you’re at in your own journey or what type of content you most resonate with at this time, I’m thrilled to have you here. Our attention is so easily splintered in our modern world, so to have curious eyes on any part of these pages is such a privilege. Thank you.
